About the event

Most married couples sign their trust and place it in a drawer, believing their planning is complete.

What many don't realize is that some trusts contain provisions that dramatically change how assets are managed and distributed when the first spouse dies. These provisions were often designed to reduce estate taxes, protect children from prior relationships, preserve inheritances, or provide asset protection. For some families, these provisions are still exactly what they want. For others, they create complexity that may no longer be necessary.

The challenge is that after the first spouse dies, many of these provisions cannot be changed.

This workshop is designed to help married couples understand how their trust is intended to function at the first death, whether it still aligns with their goals, and what steps may be required to ensure their wishes are carried out properly.
